Professor Sarah Harper CBE Speaker Biography

PepTalk Speech Bubble
British gerontologist and demographer studying global population trends

Founder and director of Oxford Institute of Population Ageing
PepTalk Speech Bubble
Advisor to governments on demographic challenges and opportunities
Sarah Harper, CBE, is a British gerontologist and demographer whose research illuminates how global population trends reshape economics, politics, and society. Her work bridges the gap between academic demographic analysis and practical policy implications.

As founder and director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, Harper has advised European and Asian governments and served on the Prime Minister's Council for Science and Technology. Her contributions to demography earned her appointment as Commander of the British Empire in 2018, complementing her background as a BBC-trained News and Current Affairs Reporter.

Harper's research addresses urgent challenges facing organisations worldwide, particularly relating to ageing populations, falling fertility rates, and increasing life expectancy. Her analysis helps businesses and governments develop sustainable strategies for workforce planning, healthcare provision, and social services in regions experiencing significant demographic shifts across both developed and developing economies.

Audiences gain practical frameworks for anticipating demographic impacts on their organisations, evidence-based approaches to multigenerational workforce management, and strategies for adapting products and services to meet the needs of changing population structures. Harper's insights enable leaders to transform demographic challenges into strategic opportunities.

Book Sarah for a compelling exploration of how population trends will fundamentally reshape your organisation's future in ways you haven't yet considered.

How much do speakers and comedians cost?

We work with speakers across a variety of fee ranges, giving you the flexibility to choose someone who fits your event's needs. Virtual keynote fees in the UK and Europe typically start at £2,000, while in-person top-tier speakers can reach £25,000. In the US, virtual in-person fees range from $5,000 to over $100,000, depending on the speaker and format, such as after-dinner talks, conference keynotes, Q&As, or podcasts. Comedians generally start at £1,500 or $2,000 for a 20-minute set.

Our goal is to help you find the speaker who best matches your event’s goals and budget. We take the time to understand your event, objectives, and audience to recommend the right fit. The most expensive option isn’t always the best one, and our priority is finding the ideal speaker or expert for your needs; not the highest-priced one.
